Encouraged by the success success of the 2019 edition with the celebration of the 75th anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy, les Courants de la Liberté are being given a new look with a new corporate identity for their 33rd edition, which will take place from June 12 to 14, 2020 in Caen in Normandy.

New ambitions, new identity

From the beginning, Les Courants de la Liberté has been a major part of the local sport life and one of the most important events in Normandy. The event is now one of the biggest run event in France, with 30 000 participants in 2019, following closely some big events such as Paris Marathon.

In 2020, the event evolves with the aim to bringt to light the D-Day Landings Marathon. The event change its corporate identity through a new event name becoming The D-Day Landings Marathon, Normandy Running Festival. A strategy that should reposition the Marathon as the main event and give it a better reputation on the national and international level. Through this strategy, the event reaffirms more than ever its DNA and its values that find their sources through two key concepts: Freedom and tribute to History.

«The 75th anniversary of D-Day has highlighted the legitimacy of the event. He also developed his reputation abroad with 50 nationalities present, a real record. Today, we need to go further. This new identity aims to boost the event with a new dynamic. Normandy is the second most famous region in the world. We want our Marathon be identified as "The D-Day Landings Marathon" and radiate beyond Normandy», says Yves Martin, President of the event.
